Frequently Asked Questions
Are your chemicals safe for the people and pets living inside the house?
For indoor applications, Mega Manila uses low-odor to odorless pesticides that are relatively safe to persons living inside the house. These pesticides have low mammalian toxicity classified under Category IV (green label) and are registered under Food and Drug Administration. Proper mixing and preparation of pesticides as prescribed on the label are also observed by our trained technicians.
How much time would it take before we can say that it is safe to enter into the house after treatment?
There are pesticides which are safe to use wherein occupants of the house can stay in their homes unharmed. To relieve worries, re-entry to treated areas must be at least two hours after treatment has been performed. Re-entry period may also be checked on product labels and Material Safety Data Sheets.
How long does the termite baiting system take to eliminate temite infestation? Is it safe for children wandering in and around the house?
Termite baiting system is a process of termite colony elimination that usually takes 4-6 weeks, depending on the degree of infestation. This approach uses bait stations with cellulose material that are incorporated with insect growth regulator (IGR). The cellulose is consumed by termite workers and is shared with the members of the colony down to the queen and king. The IGR will prevent termites to undergo molting when ingested causing them to die in the process of shedding their skin. When the workers die, the rest of the colony will follow due to starvation, thereby eliminating the entire termite colony.
Termite baiting system is an environment friendly approach to eliminate termite infestation. The cellulose material in the bait station contains relatively small concentrations of IGR that is considered safe for children and adults.
Are your chemicals safe for plants and ornamentals in the garden?
For outdoor applications like gardens and landscaped areas, Mega Manila uses chemicals that are non-systemic and non-phytotoxic. These type of pesticides will not be translocated to other plant parts when absorbed through the roots.
How long will the insecticide stay/ be effective?
Generally, insecticides will stay effective for a month or more. However, there are several factors that will reduce efficacy of applied insecticides, such as sunlight, rain, housekeeping activities, etc.
Can we use one type of pesticide for all pests inside the house / building / office?
For treatment of household pests such as flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, and ants, a single type of pesticide may be used. However, it must be understood that insecticides have different modes of actions and efficacy towards different kinds of insect pests. The use of the same insecticide repeatedly is also inadvisable because insects could develop resistance to the pesticide. Resistance makes insects less susceptible to pesticides leading to occurrence of survivors.
Will the chemical be washed-off easily when it rains?
Yes. Thus, outdoor pesticide application should not be performed under extreme weather conditions.
