ANT (Formicidae)

There are about 92 genera of ants found in the Philippines. But there are 3 common types that we find in our properties – the black ants that we usually find in our fruit trees, the brown pharaoh ant, and the red Fire ant.

Ants forage homes, stores, gardens, and structures for sweet materials, fatty food, meat, and plant parts. They carry bacteria from the rotted fruits they eat and the dirt they crawl on.

Why we want them treated: Some sting. And it doesn’t just cause inconvenience due to the burning sensation. The venom they secrete may have some allergens that can cause certain reactions when injected in the human body.

Some species of ants even cause damage to structures.
